Ryco has been awarded Gold in the Manufacturing & Consumer Goods category at the 2026 Australian Financial Review Most Innovative Companies awards for its SynTec Performance Oil Filters.
The award recognises Ryco SynTec as a next-generation oil filtration platform that improves the balance between filtration efficiency, contaminant capacity and oil flow.
Designed and tested in Ryco's dedicated filtration laboratory in Melbourne, SynTec was developed for drivers, workshops and performance enthusiasts who want a higher level of protection for the engines they service and drive.
SynTec technology was developed through Ryco's work with the Repco Supercars Championship and its development of GEN3 engines. The same engineering principles are now available in a growing range of applications for performance vehicles and everyday passenger cars.
In comparative laboratory testing conducted to ISO 4548-12, SynTec delivered up to 33 per cent lower flow resistance and up to 20 per cent greater contaminant capacity than an equivalent OE filter.
The range removes a minimum of 99 per cent of contaminants at 20 microns, helping reduce the circulation of abrasive particles through the engine. Engineering evaluation supported by SAE research indicates the potential to substantially extend engine life, with the underlying analysis indicating the possibility of up to three times the lifespan through reduced abrasive wear.
"Gold recognition from the AFR is a strong endorsement of the work our engineering and product teams have put into the Ryco SynTec Performance Oil Filter range. The award recognises an innovation grounded in testing and real-world performance. SynTec was developed to reduce the compromise between fine filtration and oil flow, giving workshops, enthusiasts and drivers a premium oil filter option for engines that demand more, and the proof is in the outcomes we see with motorsport vehicles that are putting our filters to the test every race weekend." said Ryco's Executive General Manager of Engineering, Alastair Hampton.
SynTec has moved from a premium performance product concept to a proven aftermarket range, with more than 800,000 filters sold between FY22 and FY26. Its use in motorsport, adoption by performance workshops and continued range expansion demonstrate demand for filtration technology that delivers measurable protection beyond a standard service filter.
